Plug this adapter onto the end of any standard RJ45 Ethernet cable and it rolls the pins internally, turning a straight-through cable into a rollover cable. That way you can reach the RJ45 console port on Cisco routers, switches, firewalls, modems and other serial gear from a terminal, using cables you already own.
Short male to female plugs often block the ports next to them, so this cable style is the better choice for console servers and other gear with tightly packed ports. The narrow RJ45 male end locks into the device and leaves neighboring ports free.
