Product Information
This media converter works with many SFP transceivers to turn copper Gigabit Ethernet into fiber and carry it to a second device. The open SFP port takes singlemode or multimode modules, so you can reach hubs, switches and other gear beyond copper's 100 meter limit, and auto-negotiation with auto MDI/MDI-X connects devices without crossover cables.
Link Fault Signaling (LFS) lights up when a copper or fiber cable is cut or service drops, and Local and Remote Loop Back tests confirm both cables are installed correctly, all set by DIP switches. Side LEDs show network speed, connection, diagnostics and power.
The hardened aluminum case runs from -10 to 60°C (14 to 140°F). It is shielded against ESD, RFI and power surges, and hardware is included for wall or DIN mounting. Up to 12 converters can be housed and powered in the N785-CH12 chassis (sold separately). It is TAA compliant for GSA Schedule and other federal purchases.
