The HPE 749798-001 is a Smart Array P441 external RAID controller with 4GB of flash backed write cache (FBWC). It is a low profile PCIe 3.0 x8 card with two external ports, made for HPE ProLiant Gen9 servers and MSA 2040 SAN storage.

- Predictive spare activation for faster rebuilds, even in recovery mode
- Configured with HPE Smart Storage Administrator, included in the server's Intelligent Provisioning
- Smart Array data compatibility makes upgrades simple, for example turning an existing JBOD into a more advanced disk array
