About the Smart Carrier
HPE drives mounted in smart carriers give you a direct view of key status and management details. Status LED icons plus a rotating activity ring that tracks write activity show the drive's current state at a glance. A blue locator LED behind the handle can be switched on remotely to point technicians to the right drive bay, and a do not remove icon on the eject button lights up whenever pulling the drive would lose data. SAS (Serial Attached SCSI) builds on the proven SCSI software foundation and pairs it with a serial physical connection.
