Built for 40G and 100G networks, this 5 meter (16.4 ft) StarTech.com OS2 single mode duplex patch cable has UPC polished SC and SC connectors. CWDM (Coarse Wavelength Division Multiplexing) is supported over a wide 1260 to 1625 nm window, which improves channel isolation and keeps signal strength high over long runs.
The 9/125 µm fiber works with laser optimized sources from 1260 to 1625 nm and is a strong fit for links between servers, switches and other data center gear. It is backward compatible with OS1, so it slots into older fiber environments too.
Precision ceramic ferrules keep the fibers accurately aligned for insertion loss under 0.3 dB, and the UPC polish gives better return loss than older PC polishing. The bend insensitive core is surrounded by a low refractive index layer that reflects escaping light back into the fiber. StarTech.com engineered this cable for low attenuation, with performance that exceeds ITU-T G.652.D and G.657.A1 and IEC 60793-2-50 type B1.3 and B6.a1.
The low smoke zero halogen (LSZH) flame retardant jacket gives off little smoke and few toxic fumes under extreme heat or fire, which helps in poorly ventilated spaces, enclosed settings like trains and aircraft, and homes where building codes apply. Each cable is tested for insertion loss individually and ships with its test report. Molded strain reliefs and aramid reinforcement add durability, and the cable is rated for a loaded bend radius of 10 mm.
