This 3 meter (9.8 ft) Eaton Tripp Lite Series mode conditioning cable lets you run Gigabit Ethernet 1000BASE-LX gear over an existing multimode fiber plant, and it complies with IEEE 802.3z. A long wave (1300 nm) LX transceiver launches a single mode laser, and firing that straight into the center of multimode fiber creates multiple signals from differential mode delay (DMD), which sharply limits distance.
The mode conditioning cord offsets the single mode launch away from the multimode core center to fix that. One end has an LC single mode and an LC multimode connector for the transceiver, and the other end has two ST multimode connectors for the cable plant. The jacket is PVC.
