Built for 10Gb Ethernet, this 5 meter (16.4 ft) Eaton Tripp Lite Series patch cable uses aqua laser optimized multimode fiber (LOMMF), OM3 grade, with a 50/125 micron core. It offers close to three times the bandwidth of older 62.5 micron multimode fiber at a much lower cost than a single mode installation.
The cable is designed for the 850 nm window, where affordable VCSEL laser optics make 10Gb links practical over extended distances. It has an LC connector on one end and an SC connector on the other, a low smoke zero halogen (LSZH) jacket, and suits LANs, SANs, data centers, central offices and head end interconnects. It is rated for 10Gb runs of up to 300 meters at 850 nm and works with existing 50/125 fiber.
